John Bull’s Debt Clock v2.00

A new version of the John Bull’s Debt Clock iOS app has now gone live on the App Store.

In version 2.00, the numbers have been made smaller to make room for debt numbers greater than £1,000,000,000,000. Also, the app has been updated with the November 2010 UK debt data from the Office of National Statistics. Finally, the app has been rebuilt to work on iOS 4.2.

A new version of the John Bull’s Debt Clock iOS app has now gone live on the App Store. It works on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad (it does not yet have an iPad-specific interface, so doesn’t look so great, but it does work).

Version 1.9 has been updated with the July 2010 debt data from the UK Office for National Statistics.

Version 1.8 has been updated with the April 2010 debt data from the UK Office for National Statistics.

(In case anyone is wondering about Uncle Sam’s Debt Clock, it automatically gets updated numbers from the U.S. Treasury and Census Bureau every time you launch it, so it doesn’t need to be updated to get new data.)

U.S. National Debt About to Hit $13 Trillion

While checking the U.S. national debt with Uncle Sam’s Debt Clock on my iPhone, I have noticed that it’s getting awfully close to the $13 trillion mark.

So I decided to plot the latest data from the U.S. Treasury to try to predict when our debt will surpass that mark. Looks like it will happen any day now. The blue line is the actual debt, and the red line is my extrapolation.
